A Festive Season in Bibliotekstan
Bibliotekstan has invited Swedish creative Sofia Wood to design this year’s Christmas tree at Norrmalmstorg.
On 14 November, the Christmas tree at Norrmalmstorg will be illuminated, featuring decorations designed by beloved Swedish design profile and influencer Sofia Wood at the initiative of Bibliotekstan. The decoration is a collaboration between Bibliotekstan, Stockholmsjul, the City of Stockholm and City i Samverkan, and will form part of Stockholmsjul’s annual Christmas lighting ceremony in the city centre.
Christmas is approaching in central Stockholm, bringing with it a season of shopping, restaurant visits and memorable experiences. This is the first time Bibliotekstan has been involved in the design of the tree, which this year has been created by Sofia Wood. The collaboration is part of ongoing efforts to create a vibrant and welcoming urban environment throughout the festive season, where Christmas lights, activities and meeting places contribute to the experience of Stockholm.
Sofia Wood’s Design Brings Biblogranen to Life
This year’s Christmas tree at Norrmalmstorg has been decorated by Sofia Wood at the initiative of Bibliotekstan. The concept has been named Biblogranen, bringing a festive touch to the area surrounding Bibliotekstan. With her personal interpretation of Christmas traditions, Sofia Wood gives the tree a distinctive look for the festive season. She will also attend Stockholmsjul’s opening ceremony on 14 November, when the tree is illuminated for the season.
“Christmas is a magical time of year, and it feels wonderful to have been given the opportunity to help make Bibliotekstan a place where the magic of Christmas comes to life. I designed the Christmas tree at Norrmalmstorg to be classically beautiful, illuminating the darkness with a sense of enchantment while combining tradition with an element of surprise. I drew inspiration from British influences, adorning the tree with velvet bows in rich, deep shades and classic, sparkling tassels. I hope and believe that this Christmas tree will add to the very special experience of visiting beautiful Bibliotekstan at Christmas and enjoying its magical atmosphere. It is well worth a visit, whether you live nearby or are travelling from further afield,” says Sofia Wood.
The Christmas Tree Lights Up on 14 November
The tree at Norrmalmstorg will be illuminated as part of Stockholmsjul’s opening ceremony, when the Christmas lights throughout central Stockholm are switched on at 4.30 pm. At 5 pm, it will be time for the Christmas tree at Norrmalmstorg to light up.
Throughout the evening, visitors can enjoy coffee and festive treats from local bakeries, accompanied by atmospheric Christmas music.
The ceremony also marks the start of the Christmas season in Bibliotekstan. Throughout December, the festive atmosphere continues with activities offering Stockholmers and visitors even more reasons to explore the area’s boutiques, restaurants and cafés.
Welcome to experience Christmas in Bibliotekstan!
